Intentional Touch
Canine Massage
What to Expect
Learning to relax is a learned skill.
Dogs need practice to learn relaxation
through intentional touch.
Canine massage is based on respecting the dog's needs and their personal space. The massage is always guided by the dog and is never forced. The comfort level of the dog will determine type of massage and length of the massage.
Where
-
Sessions provided in the comfort and familiarity of your dog's home. Other locations can be considered upon request.
-
An interior place should be provided that is quiet and away from other pets, people and distracting sounds.
Prior to Appointment
-
No food or vigorous exercise 30 minutes before the appointment. Your dog should be hydrated and have had a bathroom break just prior to appointment.
-
Please have your dog on a leash.
-
Please be ready and waiting for the appointment.
Initial Visit
-
Intake form will be discussed with caregiver. Form should be filled out prior to appointment. Form can be downloaded and printed from contact page or mailed. I will meet and greet your dog and do a walking assessment.
-
Caregiver may remain in the vicinity of the massage. You will be asked to remain out of eye and verbal contact with your dog. Please hold questions until after the massage is completed. I will be happy after the massage is complete to answer questions and demonstrate and explain any techniques you have questions about.
-
This initial massage will require more time than subsequent massages. Please plan on the extra time in your schedule so that you, your dog and I can get acquainted and set a strong foundation for the success of future massages.
